Tencent issued a special notice on the rectification of illegal collection, editing and release of financial information

On October 14, Tencent released a new "Announcement on the Special Rectification of Irregular Collection, Editing and Publishing of Financial Information by Qinglang Commercial Website Platforms and "Self-Media"".

In the announcement, Tencent stated that the company actively responded to the work deployment of the Cyberspace Administration of China on the special rectification of the Qinglang Commercial Website Platform and "self-media" that illegally collected, edited and released financial information. According to relevant laws and regulations and special rectification requirements, it focused on eight types of problems and carried out concentrated rectification of illegal release of financial news, distorted interpretation of economic policies, badmouthing and bearish on the financial market, acting as a "black mouth" to attract attention, spreading rumors, extortion and other content.

From October 7 to October 13, a total of 23,124 pieces of illegal content were cleaned up and 1,463 accounts were dealt with. In this round of investigation and punishment, Tencent mentioned that through user complaints and platform security inspections, the company discovered and dealt with a number of bad accounts that violated regulations by publishing virtual currency information, advocating virtual currency "mining" activities, and distorting the interpretation of national policies.

Tencent said it will continue to strengthen its corporate responsibilities and intensify its crackdown on illegal financial activities such as virtual currency transactions. Once illegal financial activities such as virtual currency transactions are discovered and verified, the accounts that publish relevant information will be strictly dealt with, and clues of illegal and criminal activities will be reported to relevant departments in a timely manner. At the same time, it will continue to clean up illegal financial information and further regulate the order of online financial information dissemination.
