On September 22, some Iranian lawmakers submitted a report to parliament last week, urging the authorities to change their restrictive policies on cryptocurrencies. “Taking a restrictive approach will only push innovative solutions underground,” said Gholamreza Marhaba, spokesman for Iran’s parliament’s economic committee. “Our research shows that 50% of cryptocurrency activity takes place in the informal market. Supportive regulations can help increase the contribution of digital currencies to the economy.” |
