In response, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele tweeted that (this move) will make history. It is reported that the El Salvador legislature passed a bill in June this year to establish Bitcoin as legal tender. The bill officially came into effect at midnight on September 7, and Bitcoin and the US dollar are used as legal tender in El Salvador at the same time. Residents of the country can download the government's digital wallet for free, and downloaders will receive $30 in Bitcoin during the setup process.
