Seychelles police have been asked to investigate the transfer of 230,000 Bitcoins in connection with an alleged OneCoin Ponzi scheme. The Seychelles Financial Crime Investigation Unit (FCIU) has confirmed it has received the request for documents to investigate multiple transactions involving cash and property worth more than $10 billion. Tania Potter, head of legal affairs at the FCIU, said the department received quite a number of documents as part of the complaint, some of which needed to go through a verification process to identify the connection with the Seychelles, and would make a decision on the next steps after that was completed. It is reported that the OneCoin Ponzi scheme defrauded about $4 billion from millions of investors. |
