According to Bitpush, on Saturday night, the hacker group Anonymous launched a wave of public opinion bombardment against Musk. Anonymous revealed a lot of sensitive topics in the video it released: from Tesla's reliance on government subsidies and "blood batteries" to Musk sending people to Mars to die. Anonymous describes Elon Musk as an attention-seeking "narcissistic rich kid" who can never understand the plight of ordinary hard-working people because he was born into apartheid-era wealth. At the end of the video, the group threatens to continue its attacks against Musk. "You may think you're the smartest guy in the room, but now you've met your match. We are Anonymous! We are the Legion!" While targeting one of the world's richest men may seem overly ambitious, that's not to say the hacker group lacked ambition. Anonymous topped Time magazine's 2012 survey of the world's most influential people. The group supported anti-government protests during the Arab Spring; orchestrated the HBGary hack; launched DDoS attacks on PayPal, Visa, and Mastercard after they froze WikiLeaks' financial activity; hacked North Korean government websites; and even attacked Sony. Musk posted a cryptic tweet that some believe could be his response to the threatening message. |
