Wu Blockchain learned that according to Reuters, U.S. senators wrote to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce stating that the requirement to obtain a U.S. license to sell semiconductors manufactured abroad using U.S. technology to Huawei should apply to any Chinese company that designs more advanced chips of 14 nanometers or less.

Currently, the only chip design companies in China that use and mass-produce advanced process chips are Bitmain and Shenma, two Bitcoin mining machine companies. Bitmain uses TSMC's 5nm and 7nm chip processes, while Shenma uses Samsung's 8nm process. In addition, Bitmain also has an artificial intelligence chip business that is used in security and TOG, which the United States is very wary of. It is expected to spin off the artificial intelligence business before listing.

Industry insiders pointed out that there is a high possibility that Chinese chip design companies will be restricted according to the process, which will cause great uncertainty to mining machine companies such as Bitmain and Shenma, and even cause mining machine chip design and manufacturing to move to North America. However, since Bitcoin chips have little to do with the political and military fields that the United States cares about, it is possible to apply for relevant licenses even if restrictions are imposed.
