Shanghai CPPCC members suggested that Shanghai pilot digital currency in five areas including prepaid cards

At the special meeting of the 4th Session of the 13th Shanghai CPPCC, Yang Yanqing, a member of the Shanghai CPPCC and president of the First Financial Research Institute, suggested that the Yangtze River Delta be taken as a whole, and a super-large new digital economic infrastructure be established through the coordination of government power and the Yangtze River Delta, as well as the power of the private sector and enterprises. Yang Yanqing also made suggestions on digital currency.

She said that Shanghai is the first comprehensive pilot in the country this year. It is recommended that the digital currency comprehensive pilot be used in the scenarios of urban digital transformation and smart cities, first, to make prepaid cards, second, to pay wages to migrant workers, third, to pay salaries to sanitation volunteers, fourth, to cross-border transactions, and fifth, to be used for governance.
