Filecoin network enters the EB era, witnessing the birth of a milestone together
Less than four weeks after the launch of the Filecoin mainnet, the Filecoin network reached an important milestone: at 9:00 on November 21, the effective computing power of the entire Filecoin network exceeded 1EiB, marking the official entry of the Filecoin network into the EB era.


 

Let’s first take a look at what 1 EB means?

Data storage is based on 1024, and storage capacity is the maximum data that can be stored on the storage device. Our mobile phone memory is stored in GB.

That is to say, the current 1EB storage space of the Filecoin network can store 29 billion 1080p movies, can accommodate the capacity of 4,500 Wikipedias, can store 685,000 years of continuous video calls, which is equivalent to 19 copies of the entire Internet archive.


As Filecoin reaches the 1EB storage milestone, the Filecoin network can already be called a large, diverse, distributed, and innovative ecosystem of participants.


The current structure of the Internet is on fragile foundations.
