It’s been “interesting” to watch the progress of Segregated Witness (SegWit) on different blockchains, but Bitcoin still doesn’t seem to be seeing any significant progress in this regard. According to Blockchair analysis, it is clear that Segregated Witness is gaining popularity on the Litecoin blockchain. In January 2018, Litecoin’s Segregated Witness usage was only 2%, while Bitcoin was 11% at the time, but a lot has changed since then, and by the end of 2018, Litecoin’s Segregated Witness adoption rate had soared to 32%. Since then, the overall adoption of SegWit on the Litecoin network has been growing, while Bitcoin has been stagnant for a long time without any real signs of improvement. As of August 16, Litecoin SegWit adoption has reached 80%, far ahead of Bitcoin's 47%. Litecoin founder Charlie Lee explained that the reason no one on the Bitcoin blockchain is using Segregated Witness could be that the team at Blockchain.com, one of the world’s largest Bitcoin wallet providers, failed to adopt this solution.
