Iran requires crypto miners to register their identities and mining farms with relevant authorities within one month

Iranian Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri announced on Monday that cryptocurrency miners in the country will soon have to register their mining machines with the government.

Under the directive, miners will have to disclose their identities, the size of their mines and the type of mining equipment to the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade. The Ministry of Mines said miners will have one month to register their equipment, after which the ministry will publish a list of licensed mining centers.

Officials said Monday they hope to “clear confusion among cryptocurrency activists” with the new directive.
