Zcash "friendly" forks out of Ycash. How can privacy coins get out of funding difficulties?

On July 19, according to explorer.zcha data, at 10:34:51 this morning, Zcash successfully forked out Ycash at a block height of 570,000. When the fork was completed, the price of Zcash was temporarily reported at US$77.86, a 24-hour increase of 4.26%.
According to public information, the founder of Ycash is Howard Loo, who is a member of the Zcash development team.

1. “Friendly fork”
In April, Howard Loo detailed the main motivations for the fork in a post on the Zcash community forum: “We launched Ycash to reestablish a goal — mining on commodity hardware — that seemed to have been abandoned on the Zcash blockchain. We also launched Ycash to deliver on a promise — that the Zcash Founder’s Reward will never exceed 2.1 million — a promise we fear will come under increasing pressure between now and the expiration of the Founder’s Reward in October 2020.”

It is understood that after Howard Loo's new project Ycash was proposed, it received full support from Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox. On May 24 this year, Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox tweeted that Ycash is a "friendly fork" of Zcash.

Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox backs Ycash
The so-called friendly fork refers to a fork that has not caused any disputes with the "original chain" and has been recognized by the original chain team. According to previous information, the "friendly fork" was expected by the founding team.
Back in 2017, Zooko Wilcox said, “In the future, as the Zcash community grows, we may need multiple different technologies, each built on a different branch of the original blockchain. This is likely to happen because different technologies provide different options for users, and some Zcash applications may benefit more from one technology, while other applications may benefit from different, incompatible designs.”
Furthermore, he said: “I hope that when that day comes, the Zcash community will be able to… deploy different technologies that are well suited to different needs, but continue to be tolerant and collaborative for the benefit of all.”

2. The dilemma and solution of Zcash <br />When Ycash was launched, the plan specifically mentioned one point: “Ycash is also to fulfill a promise - the Zcash founder reward will never exceed 2.1 million.” In fact, as the Zcash project develops, the original deadline of “20% of the mining rewards in the first four years will be allocated to the founders (founders, investors, employees and consultants)” is approaching.

According to the plan, around November 2020, when block 570,000 is mined, the supply of Zcash will be halved and the reward for the founder will be cancelled.
In this context, Zcash will face the dilemma of having no money to continue research and development. Since January this year, the moderator of the Zcash community forum has posted a post about "The Future of Zcash" to discuss what to do next.
“I think it’s critical to start discussing these things while we still have time to come up with a plan together,” wrote moderator Shawn, who also raised several questions in the thread: Who manages the Zcash Github repository? Does Zcash have enough developers to continue maintaining its code? What about the Zcash trademark?
In addition, Zcash does not have a built-in voting mechanism, which makes it more difficult to solve the problem. Recently, Zooko Wilcox, CEO of the ECC (Electric Coin Company) Foundation, which is responsible for the development of Zcash, said that he would support the community's decision to extend the founder's reward.
In this context, the idea of Ycash began to be proposed, and the initiators and followers soon established a foundation. Regarding the funding issue, the foundation proposed that Ycash continue the founder's reward until after 2020. In addition, the founder's reward was reduced to 5% of the block reward, a 75% reduction, but the team believes that these funds are sufficient to sustain its development. (31Qqu)
