The police used a drone to conduct aerial reconnaissance in a 2-kilometer radius, locking down criminal evidence and cracking the electricity theft case.
At 10:40 on May 28, 2019, the Green Grassland Police Station of the Public Security Bureau of Qiqihar Reclamation Area received a phone call from the person in charge of the ninth oil production site of Daqing Oilfield, reporting that "someone is stealing electricity from the oilfield in the oil production area. Please ask the public security organs to come and deal with it."

After receiving the alarm, the police quickly rushed to the scene to investigate. The scene was located on a mound 200 meters north of the oil well. The mound was surrounded by water and weeds. The water depth was about 1.5 meters. You had to wear water-forked pants to climb onto the mound. After climbing onto the mound, the police found a small white iron shed with 20 Bitcoin mining machines in it mining Bitcoin. They confirmed that the owner of these mining machines was Li.
As the area involved was very large, the police station activated the drone and conducted aerial reconnaissance of all areas within a radius of 2 kilometers, with the mining machine shed on the earth mound as the center. It was soon discovered outside the mining machine shed that a black cable with a diameter of about 5 cm passed through the underwater fish pond, connecting the 20 Bitcoin mining machines in the shed to the distribution box of the oil well 200 meters south of the fish pond.
The police came to the vicinity of the oil well and found the connection point of the cable. They determined that the suspect Li used the electricity from the oil well to power his mining machine to mine Bitcoin. After preliminary calculations, the economic loss caused by Li to the oil field was about 48,560 yuan.
