Russia's draft digital currency regulation removes definition of cryptocurrency mining

Russian lawmakers removed the definition of cryptocurrency mining from a draft bill on digital currency regulation before reading it out. As a result, the new law will not address tax issues for mining companies. Aksakov, chairman of the Duma's Financial Markets Committee, said that if the law is to define crypto mining, then it also needs to define cryptocurrencies. He further added that it would be "pointless" to include mining in the government's proposed regulation. He believes that mining should be governed by tax regulators if necessary. (Interfax)
