Researcher says banking consumes three times as much electricity as Bitcoin mining

According to Bitcoinist, Katrina Kelly-Pitou, a researcher in clean energy technology at the University of Pittsburgh, recently said that the banking industry consumes nearly 100 terawatts per year, which is three times the amount of Bitcoin mining. If Bitcoin is in the context of an industry that is 100 times larger than it is now and is improving at an accelerated pace, it will only account for 2% of global energy consumption.
