"EOS" becomes a popular word on the Internet, with Google search volume increasing by 97%

According to COINTELEGRAPH, the number of searches for the term "Bitcoin" has dropped by more than 75% since the beginning of the year. In addition to Bitcoin, the number of searches for other mainstream currencies has also dropped significantly, but EOS is the opposite, with its Google search volume increasing by 97% this year.

Google Trends analyzes the popularity of online search terms at different times. 100 is considered the most popular value. A reporter from Planet Daily searched in Google Trends and found that the popularity of EOS reached 87 between May 27 and June 2. According to the coinmarketcap website, the market value of EOS has continued to grow since June 1. At 12:49 on June 5, the market value of EOS reached 11,732,926,841 USD, the price was 13.09 USD, and the 24-hour trading volume was 1,328,630,000 USD.

The reason why EOS has become so popular recently is nothing more than the launch of the mainnet and the election of super nodes. Behind the election are the huge bonuses of super nodes and the increasing traffic attention of the public.

In the EOS official white paper, EOS super nodes are called Block Producers. In order to increase the number of transactions, the DPOS model of the EOS network requires 21 super nodes and 49 standby nodes, who complete tasks such as accounting, collection, verification, block packaging, and broadcasting.

At the same time, as a reward, these super nodes will also receive EOS tokens issued annually as rewards. According to EOS's existing reward rules, it will issue no more than 1% of tokens each year to all nodes as a reward for their contribution to computing resources.

According to the total amount of 1 billion set by EOS, 1% of the dividend reward represents 10 million EOS. Based on the current EOS price of US$13.09, the node's annual income is approximately several million US dollars.

The grand election of EOS is not just because of the millions of dollars in revenue. Becoming a super node also means having the decision-making power to control the EOS ecological network.

At present, the super nodes in the election can be roughly divided into five major factions. Among the community faction, there are EOS Gravity Zone, EOS Alliance, etc. Among the old legions of the Bitcoin era, there is Ant Pool of Bitcoin Mainland. The latest voting data on the Huobi platform shows that the top three nodes are EOS-Huobipool, EosStore, and EOS Gravity. In addition, Eurochain, Canon Community, and EOSBeijing are also among the top 30.

Previously, Lao Mao had published an article on his official account, explaining his operational ideas after being elected as a node miner. "Except for the necessary bandwidth and equipment costs and a small amount of labor costs, all other benefits will be distributed proportionally to those who voted."

The setting of bonus rewards like these has stimulated the voting enthusiasm of EOS holders, but it has also been labeled as "vote buying", causing huge controversy. This practice has triggered further heated discussions on the DPOS model of EOS. Vitalik Buterin once pointed out that the DPOS model equipped with 21 super nodes has major flaws and hidden dangers, and will not be successful in the long run.

Regardless of whether it is fair and democratic, the canvassing methods used by various campaign teams are very eye-catching and have attracted huge traffic, making EOS a key buzzword during this period.
