The Ethereum core developer meeting on April 6 discussed the proposal to resist ASICs. In response to the potential computing power threat of Bitmain's ASIC mining machine E3, the Ethereum core developers do not intend to take immediate measures, such as using hard forks to prevent it. Their reason is that E3 is about 2.5 times more efficient than traditional graphics cards, which is not an order of magnitude advantage like the SHA256 algorithm. Therefore, a 51% computing power attack is unlikely. Another reason is that the Ethereum community is not like the Bitcoin community. Miners do not have much say. Therefore, even if a serious threat occurs, the Ethereum community has sufficient means and execution to deal with it. |
