New Ethereum Improvement Proposal Proposes Hard Fork to Fight ASICs Ethereum's main developers are currently discussing whether to hard fork the blockchain to resist Bitmain's ASIC mining machine's change to the algorithm. On March 29, Ethereum developer Piper Merriam proposed Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) #958, which seeks community advice on whether the blockchain should be forked and how to "resist ASICs." In this proposal, Merriam also mentioned a speculation that Bitmain has begun using its Ethereum mining machines for mining. |
