March 22 news : Chelan County, Washington, has attracted many miners because of its extremely low electricity prices. Now the district has said it will stop reviewing applications for new mining businesses. On Monday, members of the Chelan County Public Utility District (PUD) board voted unanimously to stop reviewing applications for mining facilities and similar data research projects. A public hearing will be held on May 14. Before the ban is lifted, if any company conducts mining business without authorization, it will need to bear the consequences. |
