After accepting Bitcoin payments, Japan's Peach Aviation plans to launch a dedicated Bitcoin wallet

Japan’s first low-cost airline, Peach Aviation, has unveiled plans to offer a variety of bitcoin services to its passengers, following its announcement last month that it had become the first airline in Japan to accept bitcoin for airfare payments.

Japan's first airline to accept Bitcoin

Peach Aviation is Japan's first low-cost airline. The company was founded in February 2011 and officially started operations in March 2012. Peach Aviation's majority stake is held by All Nippon Airways, Japan's largest airline.

Last month, 8btc reported that Peach Aviation plans to start accepting Bitcoin for air tickets by the end of the year. They have partnered with Tokyo-based Bitcoin exchange and payment startup Bitpoint.

The Bitcoin payment system will be integrated with Peach Aviation’s website, according to reports:

Purchasing an airline ticket with Bitcoin will cost 440 yen ($3.93) less than paying with a credit card.

Other Bitcoin Services

According to the cooperation agreement between Bitpoint and Peach Aviation, both companies plan to popularize the use of Bitcoin in Japan. After negotiation, they plan to launch the following Bitcoin services:

(Bitcoin ATM to be installed by Peach Aviation)

- Launched Bitcoin payment service at Peach Ticket Offices.
- Launched Peach Bitcoin Wallet to customers.
- Provide Bitcoin payment services in "souvenir shops, restaurants, hotels and various devices at tourist attractions."
- Install Bitcoin ATMs (BTMs) at airports
- Deploy any other services that will help your business grow and develop.

In addition to accepting bitcoin payments online and at ticket counters, Peach Aviation is also expected to offer the digital currency as a payment option at its duty free shop at Kansai International Airport.

Peach Aviation Eyes Bitcoin

Peach Aviation reportedly expects more travelers to choose to use Bitcoin.

(Using Bitcoin) can make their journey easier, as tourists can save the trouble of carrying cash or exchanging local currency.

I will be dedicated to helping people realize their dream of traveling without a wallet.
