As its advantages gradually fade, will Bitcoin's value eventually be surpassed by Ethereum?

In May 2017, investors and speculators witnessed the price of Bitcoin surpass $2,300. This figure marked the highest point in the entire price history of Bitcoin. Due to the success of Bitcoin in the past few years, many investors have been attracted to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

However, Bitcoin isn’t the only cryptocurrency to have seen its value rise. Another popular cryptocurrency — Ethereum, or its token ETH — has also seen its value rise since January 2017.

From the initial $8.24, ETH has now risen to $203, a surge of nearly 2367%.

Investor concerns

In the past few years, cryptocurrencies have gained a lot of support from investors who are looking for alternatives to traditional investment mediums. Although most investors still invest in traditional financial markets such as the stock market and the foreign exchange market, many investors are increasingly concerned about the economic climate of the global economy.

“Recent events have pointed out the inherent instability of traditional markets, and many investors have been looking for alternative ways to invest their money.

As cryptocurrencies have grown in popularity and value, many investors, especially from Asia, have jumped on the bandwagon of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Advantages of Ethereum

Although most people are more familiar with Bitcoin, Ethereum has also gained considerable market share. However, the key difference between Bitcoin and Ethereum lies in the technology they use.

The difference between the two systems is that Ethereum's data processing is faster than Bitcoin's because Ethereum's system can automatically execute the terms of a pre-set contract.

Although many people may think that Ethereum may not be as good as Bitcoin because the price of ETH is lower than Bitcoin, it is actually a good thing for potential investors who are looking for an alternative to Bitcoin. The only disadvantage is that Ethereum is not as perfect as Bitcoin, which means that Bitcoin is more secure than Ethereum.

Less volatility than before

Since the creation of Bitcoin in 2009, cryptocurrencies have made their mark. They are still continuing to grow. In fact, the value of legitimate cryptocurrencies has increased a lot since then.

Although cryptocurrencies have performed very well so far this year, analysts predict that when the global economic climate improves, investors will return to traditional investment tools and leave cryptocurrencies. At that time, the volatility of cryptocurrencies will decrease due to lower demand.

Of course, we will see cryptocurrencies rise in the coming years, which will help this industry remain quite strong. When all of this happens, it will definitely be a good idea for investors to hold cryptocurrencies because cryptocurrencies will continue to gain further momentum.
