Digital currency payment processor Coinify has signed a new partnership with Dutch point-of-sale provider Countr that will provide more options for bitcoin consumers. Countr, which has a merchant network of about 3,000 dealerships, will launch a new version of its app on June 1 that will include Coinify integration. This type of news is not common in the current blockchain space: merchant integration. This opens up the possibility for 14 different digital currencies to use the Countr network for payments, including Bitcoin, as well as other well-known cryptocurrencies such as ETH and Litecoin. John Staunton, Countr co-founder and CEO, said in a statement: “We are always excited to leverage new payment technologies and help our merchants improve their businesses. Blockchain is expected to be one of the major payment trends in the coming years and we are very excited to integrate this technology into our POS system.” In mid-2015, Coinify began to expand its services to other European countries besides its headquarters in Denmark. According to Babbitt, Coinify raised $4 million in Series A funding after that, with investors including Swedish banking giant SEB Group and Denmark’s SEED Capital.
