Indonesia's largest e-wallet DOKU joins blockchain financial network OKLink

November 14, 2016 - OKLink, a blockchain global remittance network, announced that it has begun working with DOKU to provide real-time mobile digital wallet payment methods for remittance customers to Indonesia.

With the rapid development of Indonesia's e-commerce industry, electronic money has also been rapidly promoted in Indonesia, with total transaction volume reaching US$394 million last year. The development of electronic money is mainly due to the low credit card penetration rate in Indonesia (only 6%) and the small population with bank accounts (only 60 million people have bank accounts out of a population of 250 million).

Indonesian payment company DOKU currently cooperates with 15 major banks in Indonesia to provide digital payment services to more than 20,000 merchants. DOKU wallet is the first electronic wallet in Indonesia. Its customers can recharge their wallets through ATMs and credit cards, and can also use cash to recharge at cooperative convenience stores. After recharging, customers can use the electronic wallet to purchase goods or pay other expenses without using credit cards or bank accounts.

Lukman Hakim, senior manager of cross-border remittances at DOKU, said:

“We are very pleased to cooperate with OKLink. Increasing the number of withdrawal points will help us expand into the global market effectively. Through this cooperation with OKLink, we hope that more users can enjoy the high-quality service of DOKU cross-border remittance.”

OKLink has established cooperation with 122 Indonesian banks to provide real-time remittance services for remittance companies, charging only 0.5% handling fee, which is much lower than other companies in the remittance industry. After DOKU joins the OKLink network, OKLink customers can choose e-wallet remittance method when remitting money to Indonesia.

Liu Chengqi, Chief Strategy Officer of OKLink said:

“We are very excited to be working with Lukman and the DOKU team. The speed at which mobile payments are developing is truly eye-opening. In Indonesia, we have established partnerships with 122 banks to provide real-time remittance services to our customers. At the same time, we will continue to pursue low-cost, high-speed remittance services, strive to cover more countries, and provide more remittance methods.”

Last month, OKLink announced that it would provide all partner remittance companies with a fee-free cross-border remittance of the first $100,000. This preferential policy is designed to help remittance companies provide their customers with lower-cost, faster, and more transparent global remittance services.
