Nearly 16% of the nodes in the entire network officially switched to Core 0.13.1, and BitGo publicly expressed support for isolated verification

Last week, Bitcoin Core 0.13.1 was officially released, and Segregated Witness (SegWit) is about to become a reality. In just a few days, 15.8% (as of press time) of Bitcoin nodes have switched to 0.13.1, proving their support for activating Segregated Witness.

Segregated verification is an innovative expansion technology developed and launched by the Bitcoin Core team. Once the soft fork implementation criteria are met, the segregated verification code can be activated to separate the transaction signature from the initial transaction data, thereby achieving the purpose of rapidly increasing block capacity and solving the transaction malleability problem.

Like all soft forks, the activation of segregated verification also requires 95% of the network's computing power to support it. However, it is still difficult to say whether segregated verification can be implemented smoothly, after all, several large mining pools and miners have publicly expressed their opposition.

Miners are divided

Both ViaBTC (10.22%) and Bitcoin.com (2.92%) mining pools support Bitcoin Unlimited (data source: BTC.com), a hard fork protocol that allows miners to publicly choose block capacity.

A soft fork requires 95% hashrate support to activate, so in theory, if ViaBTC and Bitcoin.com’s hashrate remains constant, it is indeed possible to prevent the release of SegWit.

Currently,约90% of the network's computing power supports Bitcoin Core, and the remaining 10% supports protocols such as Bitcoin Unlimited and Bitcoin Classic.

Although the voting for BIP 141 (Isolated Witness Release) opens on 11月15日, a large number of node operators have already expressed their support for Isolated Witness.

BitGo switches to 0.13.1

21 Inc Bitcoin node data platform Bitnodes shows that in the past few days, the number of nodes that have switched to Bitcoin Core 0.13.1 has reached 15.8% (as of press time). The BIP 141 vote has not yet been opened, but this growing data is indeed surprising.

Nodes running Bitcoin Core 0.13.1 have surpassed Bitcoin Unlimited, and the share of nodes running Bitcoin Unlimited has remained around 5% since the release of 0.13.1.

BitGo, a large multi-signature service provider and blockchain security company, has officially announced the launch of Bitcoin Core 0.13.1, which includes support for SegWit.

Currently, BitGo is a partner of many top wallet service providers, including Kraken, Bitfinex and Magnr. Since its establishment in 2013, BitGo has processed more than 10亿笔transactions.

In addition to BitGo, many Bitcoin startups and platforms have already prepared for the activation of isolated verification, including Ledger Wallet (Bitcoin hardware wallet), GreenAddress (wallet), GreenBits, and BCoin platform of Bitcoin wallet provider Purse.Io.
