Nokia and blockchain team Bitwalking launch digital currency charity fundraising campaign

Walkathons are a very popular charity event. At Futurecom, an international communications technology and equipment exhibition held in Brazil, Nokia and blockchain app Bitwalking officially cooperated and launched a 4-day (10.17-10.20) charity fundraising event in Sao Paulo. Participants can use the Bitwalking app to raise funds for Nokia's education projects in Latin America.

Bitwalking encourages users to go out for a walk and ensures their health by rewarding them with Walking Dollars(W$) , a platform token. Over the past year or so, the Android version of Bitwalking has successfully passed tests around the world. W$ is generated differently from other digital currencies. It does not require computer mining. It is generated by simple walking; the more steps you take, the more W$ you get. Bitwalking verifies the user's steps by connecting to the phone's GPS or data connection via WiFi.

Although the app has just been released, the Bitwalking team said that it has been downloaded more than 50,000 times on Google Play. Bitwalking recently launched an activity platform where users can see real-time analysis of all activities and their progress in sports. Of course, this also includes projects that Nokia and Bitwalking have collaborated on.

Futurecom is the largest trade fair for communications, IT and networking in Latin America, and is expected to attract more than 14,000 visitors. During these four days, Bitwalking users in Latin America can choose whether to participate in this charity fundraising event. The Bitwalking team said that every 15,000 steps can earn 10,000$. For every 10,000$ generated, Nokia will donate 1 dollar to Latin American education projects, and the relevant funds will eventually be used to buy computers and Keepod (the world's first standardized USB flash drive OS, the entire system resources can be completely independent of PC hardware) and other electronic devices for local students.

For Bitwalking founders Nissan Bahar and Franky Imbesi, this collaboration heralds Nokia's support and recognition of Bitwalking and digital currency.

Nokia is the most progressive player in the communications industry that has recognized the opportunities (brought by digital currencies) and taken action.

Diana Coll, head of marketing and communications for Latin America at Nokia, said that their collaboration with Bitwalking will expand the possibilities for people in this interconnected world and that they are a perfect match with Bitwalking.

We want to create technology that can really change people's lives and take responsibility for changing the world. This partnership is about bringing technology together with everyday activities to improve the lives of hundreds of children.

Health Trend Tracking

Bitwalking creates a positive exercise environment for users by recording personal walking data to track health trends. At the same time, Bitwalking also hopes to attract more users to pay attention to the field of digital currency. Imbesi said:

In theory, digital currency is not suitable for everyone. A few people may even abuse digital currency. And various institutions and companies only care about themselves and hope to maximize profits.

Coll said:

There is no doubt that (popularizing digital currency technology) can bring educational opportunities to children from low-income families in Latin America.

The event has been well received since its announcement, so Coll believes that as more and more participants start using Bitwalking, digital currency will become more "down-to-earth" for ordinary people.
