Bitfury’s payment routing system Flare successfully integrates Lightning Network after testing, significantly reducing transaction processing time

Bitfury’s new payment routing algorithm, known as Flare , has been successfully implemented on the Lightning Network, following a testing phase led by French startup ACINQ that has now been confirmed to be complete.

In July, Bitfury published a white paper on this new algorithm (full text download) and explained how it works. Soon after, ACINQ began testing the algorithm on about 2,500 AWS nodes. The results showed that in multiple tests, 80% of the time, the Flare algorithm could be implemented 5秒内. This algorithm is fast and efficient, and can play an important role in promoting the development of blockchain and digital currency.

Bitfury CEO Valery Vavilov said:

Bitfury is committed to Lightning Network research and implementation. We have dedicated engineers and blockchain industry partners who will contribute to the deployment of Lightning Network. The ACINQ team only made slight changes to the Flare algorithm execution test, proving that our proposed solution is not only theoretically feasible, but also feasible in practical applications. We are now one step closer to the successful deployment of Lightning Network and the proper solution to the Bitcoin blockchain scalability problem.

OLaolu Ostuntokun, a Lightning Network engineer and one of the authors of the Flare white paper, said about this test:

After this large-scale network test, ACINQ has brought the development of the Flare algorithm into a new stage, which is a supplement to our previous research results. Their test shows that the Flare algorithm can stand the test of practice, which is the greatest reward for our theoretical research results.

The algorithm runs fast and is designed to ensure the security of transaction data. Its information comes from any “信标节点” (remote nodes) and adjacent nodes within a specified range. In addition, blockchain technology also participates in the verification of transaction parties. All of the above features help to reduce the time of finding a suitable route and complete the transaction in the shortest possible time.
