Recently, the young startup Lawnmower (which means lawnmower) released a video explaining the company's transformation from a small-scale Bitcoin investment to a comprehensive research and trading hub for multiple blockchain assets. The company's founder also introduced LBI (Lawnmower Blockchain Index, blockchain asset price index).

Lawnmower: From small change to large blockchain investment

A year ago, Lawnmower announced its new mobile app and its unique “Change Management” feature, which allows users to save money in Bitcoin. Many people say its functionality and sleek, simple design make it the easiest way to build a Bitcoin portfolio.

The company currently has only three undergraduate students from the University of Florida and has received support from Boost VC's startup program in San Francisco, USA.

Alex Sunnarborg, the company’s chief financial officer, said:

"We developed the first version of the app in San Francisco and developed stable partnerships with partners such as Coinbase. However, we soon realized that although the change model laid a user base for us, we lacked a long-term strategy to take advantage of the growth of the cryptocurrency market and provide users with a more powerful investment platform. Moreover, users expressed the need for more savings and investment functions as well as research and information."

However, this strategic shift has been criticized by many users, because for many users, the uniqueness and flexibility of the change model is the reason why they use the Lawnmower app.

Sunnarborg said:

"We realized that abandoning the coin-change model would bring negative user feedback. We had to listen to their ideas; at the same time, we also knew that the long-term strategy meant a shift in business focus, so we had to communicate well with users."

After adjusting its strategy, the company joined the startup accelerator program in New York City, Startupbootcamp FinTech New York. CEO Pieter Gorsira said:

"After the strategic adjustment, we realized that we are not just a Bitcoin company, but more of an Internet finance company, and New York is a financial center."

Now that the Startupbootcamp FinTech New York program has ended and the company has left San Francisco, it is planning to establish a permanent headquarters in New York City.

The company is working with advisors and investors to solidify its long-term strategy, which includes building out a robust analytical research capability that evaluates all major blockchain assets, not just Bitcoin.

Lawnmower will soon launch a simple way to purchase multiple blockchain assets, and you can allocate your own investment portfolio; at the same time, it will list common investment projects for users to choose from. They have also added real-time pricing for multiple blockchain assets and improved market analysis reports for customer portfolios.

Gorsira said:

“We want Lawnmower users to have the most comfortable experience and be able to check the dynamics of the blockchain asset market anytime and anywhere.”

So the company launched the Lawnmower Blockchain Index, which tracks the price movements of major blockchain assets in real time. Gorsira said, "Since the company was founded, the number and influence of blockchain assets have increased. We want to provide everyone with a way to easily track and understand the price dynamics of these markets."

Patrick Archambeau

Patrick Archambeau, the company’s chief technology officer, said:

"We know that the company's strategy is best for users, but we also realize that we must let them know why the company adjusts its strategy and the company's expectations for future development"; therefore, as part of its daily communication with users, the company conveyed this information to its user base.

Archambeau said:

"Our users are critical to the success of the company. We plan to actively communicate with them on a regular basis, inviting them to contact us directly or visit our New York office."

The company team also hinted that the change model may be restarted at some point in the future; however, the company is currently committed to developing applications that will take advantage of current and future development trends in the blockchain asset market to provide users with a convenient and comfortable way to manage their assets.

Sunnarborg said:

"Each application is our DNA and attracts users for us; we will continue to improve the company's platform."
