Regarding Gem’s appointment, George said:

“Gem is uniquely positioned to bring blockchain technology to a variety of industries. The team is forward thinking and visionary, yet committed to the success of our clients and partners. During my time in the field, I developed global growth strategies for both startups and Fortune 500 companies, driving revenue, product development, policy, and marketing. I will apply these experiences in my role at Gem to bring our solutions to the world in this hyper-fast growth environment. This is a great opportunity to be part of a strong team and I am very excited to be a part of it.”

Gem raised $7.1 million in Series A funding in early 2016, and has continued to grow rapidly since then. In April, the company announced its first corporate client, Philips Blockchain Lab. Gem's next major recruiting position is Chief Operations Officer, which requires extensive operational experience and a founder's mentality. George will make his first public appearance as CCO at the Distributed:Health conference in Nashville, Tennessee, on October 3 this year. The conference is dedicated to exploring technological innovation in the healthcare industry, and Gem is the title sponsor.

Micah Winkelspecht, CEO of Gem, said:

“Gem is delighted to have the support of David’s experience in business development. His vision and energy will be invaluable in building the team and technology and growing the business.”
