Bitcoin involved in Munich shooting

According to the latest news from foreign media Financemagnates, several media outlets in Germany reported that the gun used in the Munich shooting on July 22 was purchased by the murderer using Bitcoin.

It is now confirmed that the gun was obtained from the darknet, and Bitcoin is the preferred electronic currency for secret network users. Although the investigation has not yet been completed, German media have already inferred that Bitcoin transactions must be involved.

Although German politicians have only called on the country to strengthen the management of firearms and equipment since the incident, it is foreseeable that in the near future, all sectors of German society will demand a severe crackdown on anonymous online electronic currency transactions in view of the numerous media reports. This may have a certain impact on the use and promotion of electronic currency by European governments.

Previously, European regulators have been keeping Bitcoin under observation for a long time. They believe that a large number of terrorist financing, drug trafficking, tax evasion and other criminal activities use Bitcoin for transactions. In the Paris terrorist attacks last November, terrorists also used prepaid cards. Earlier this month, the European Commission launched the Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive against illegal terrorist financing, requiring trading platforms and custodial wallet providers of virtual currencies such as Bitcoin to verify the identities of trading users and monitor transactions. From this point of view, the development of electronic currencies such as Bitcoin in Europe is likely to enter a difficult period.
