FBI accused of overstepping authority in Silk Road Bitcoin investigation

The Silk Road case looks far from over. Gary Davis, the head of a deep web marketplace, was extradited to the United States. He is trying to get rid of suspicion so that he will not be prosecuted for his involvement in the Silk Road case. On the other hand, the FBI has strong evidence to prove Gary Davis' true identity.

The Silk Road case seems far from over. Gary Davis , the head of a deep web market, will be extradited to the United States in the near future. He is trying to get rid of suspicion so that he will not be prosecuted for his alleged involvement in the Silk Road case. On the other hand, the FBI has strong evidence that Gary Davis ' true identity is actually the administrator of the Silk Road website.

The incident dates back to 2013, when the U.S. Department of Justice and Microsoft were working together to investigate online drug trafficking. The FBI wanted to obtain Gary Davis ' personal communication records. However, this request did not receive a positive response from Microsoft because the access to customer personal information was already related to the company's legal guarantee. The FBI's request clearly violated the privacy access rights.

Currently, this overstepping of authority has been appealed to the Second Circuit Court of the United States. The court’s decision will provide legal experience for similar cases in other industries in the future.

Microsoft and other tech giants and governments, including Apple, AT&T, Cisco, Amazon , the Irish government , and EFF, have always been advocates for citizens' privacy rights and have won the support of many people . If the judge finds that the FBI has not exceeded its authority, then people will feel that they no longer have privacy anywhere.

The ruling is expected to be announced in July , after which the Supreme Court will appeal the decision . However, regardless of who is right or wrong, the battle over the identity of the Silk Road administrator is far from over. Currently, Davis is still in Ireland, and the relationship between him and Silk Road has never been confirmed.
