The Hyperledger project officially announced the addition of 7 new members, including Belink, BitSE and Onchain, three Chinese companies

Hyperledger is an open source, cross-industry project dedicated to blockchain technology research. It is led by the Linux Foundation and is about to welcome new members.

The Hyperledger Project has announced that it will add seven new members to help develop and promote enterprise-grade open source blockchain solutions, according to an official announcement released on June 22.

Brian Behlendorf, the new executive director who is currently leading the project, highlighted the potential application of blockchain solutions in enterprises. He said:

“Enterprise-level applications of blockchain technology will change the way we do business and will have a profound impact on all areas of business.”

The 7 new members include:

•Belink Technologies - a Chinese technology company •BitSE - a blockchain startup from Shanghai, China •INVeSHARE - a consulting company •MonetaGo - originally a Bitcoin exchange, now a blockchain company •Moscow Exchange - the largest exchange group in Russia •Norbloc - a Swedish blockchain company •Onchain - a Chinese blockchain wallet API provider

Among the new members, there are more and more Bitcoin and blockchain-related companies joining, including exchanges like ItBit, Bloq, a blockchain solution company led by Bitcoin core developer Jeff Garzik. Thomson Reuters, a well-known global news service company, has also joined Hyperledger before.

Behlendorf said:

“Being able to welcome so many new members every month is not only a testament to what we are doing, but is also critical to our success in developing distributed ledger technology (blockchain technology).”

The Hyperledger project is arguably the most important blockchain project of its kind, with a large number of industry-leading companies collaborating to develop open source blockchain solutions under the leadership of the Linux Foundation. According to previous reports, tech giant IBM has joined the project, along with some well-known banks such as JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo.

In February 2016, Hyperledger announced the code plan and added the first 30 founding members. In order to promote cross-industry efforts, IBM has focused its efforts on fully supporting and developing blockchain technology for real-life applications.

In May 2016, Brian Behlendorf, lead developer of the Apache web server and former member of the Mozilla Foundation, was appointed executive director of the project.
