Microsoft Azure announced the addition of nine new digital currencies to its Blockchain as a Service (BaaS) developer environment: Jambucks, Bitswift, Storj, Vcash, Shadow, Blocknet, Blitz, Gamecredits and Okcash. Marley Gray, Microsoft's head of business development and strategy for cloud platform and enterprise, also announced the appointment of two new bloggers to the Azure BaaS platform. Yorke Rhodes, global business strategist, will now be on the Azure BaaS platform. Jason Albert, Microsoft’s assistant general counsel for blockchain, will be responsible for blogging updates on the company’s work with the Council for Digital Commerce (CDC), which Microsoft recently joined. In a blog post today, Gray explained that Microsoft decided to join the CDC in the hope of helping to establish a suitable regulatory framework for distributed ledgers and digital currencies. Marley Gray Gray said:
Gray stressed the importance of regulation in ensuring criminals do not have a foothold in digital currencies, and he also noted that the distributed ledger industry is still in its infancy.
