Mycelium Launches Massively Upgraded New Bitcoin Wallet and a Crowdsale Software

Bitcoin wallet Mycelium has just announced a massive upgrade to its wallet platform, including a host of new features and a crowdsale software that can be used to purchase shares in companies.

Mycelium claims that they have been developing their new wallet in secret for the past six months. After the upgrade, Mycelium product manager Dmitry Murashchik said that their wallet platform will have its own API, allowing third-party developers to connect to their wallets and develop their own services. He also said that the wallet will soon support Glidera. Glidera is a Bitcoin exchange that some other wallets have recently integrated to allow buying and selling Bitcoin directly through the wallet.

The new Mycelium wallet will also support multiple currencies and digital assets. Murashchik said,

“Through the plugin API architecture, anyone can add support for any type of currency or asset, such as Litecoin, Dogecoin, Colored Coins, Ethereum, Factom or personal issued assets like stocks, tickets or hotel keys. We are particularly advantageous in this regard because Mycelium already runs a highly optimized backend server for processing and transferring digital assets. We also plan to expand the backend architecture to support more types of assets.”

One of the biggest changes coming to Mycelium is the crowdsale software they are creating, which will allow users to participate in the growth of Mycelium and help the company with growth financing. Mycelium is selling 5% of the company’s non-diluted shares directly on the blockchain.

It is said that Mycelium 's future revenue sources include licensing fees for third-party plug-ins and services developed by Mycelium in the future.

More interestingly, Murashchik said that the Mycelium wallet will eventually support storing fiat currencies in the future, which means that Mycelium will transform into an exchange or support exchange functions that can interoperate with other exchanges (through the use of new APIs).
