Translation: Nicole Members of the European Parliament will have the opportunity to learn more about blockchain and its underlying technology during an upcoming meeting in Belgium. The European Parliament is hosting a conference on digital currencies and distributed ledgers next week, giving members of the European Parliament (MEPs) a chance to learn more about blockchain technology. The conference will take place in Brussels on April 18. The four-day event will bring together a wide range of bitcoin and blockchain startups, established companies, academia and central banks, as well as representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Europol, the World Bank, the Bank for International Settlements, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the United Nations. The show will feature Nasdaq, the International Monetary Fund, bitcoin wallet provider Blockchain.info and other participants. Syed Kamall Syed Kamall, moderator of the conference, said:
The conference was organized in conjunction with the European Cryptocurrency & Blockchain Technology Forum, a Belgian-based public policy platform on cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. The event will cover all aspects of distributed ledgers and provide EU Parliament members with a thorough understanding of blockchain technology. The conference is intended to help them deal with a variety of issues related to Bitcoin regulation. Blockchain technology has attracted the attention of leading financial service providers around the world due to its ability to solve existing problems in the financial industry. Due to its huge potential, blockchain technology has received a lot of investment in the past year. Big financial institutions believe it can fundamentally change the way transactions are accomplished. By eliminating the need for third parties to participate, blockchain will allow companies to reduce settlement costs. Sian Jones Forum founder Sian Jones said:
During the conference, three roundtables with different themes will be organized for policymakers and industry members. Themes include 'Digital Currency: The Future of Money', which will discuss the benefits of using multiple currencies; 'Blockchain: A Trusted Distributed Ledger', which will discuss how blockchain technology can drive economic prosperity while improving people's lives; and the last theme, 'Digital Currency and Blockchain Regulation: A Coordinating Policy', will summarize the discussion. |
