The project is working on designing and implementing access control mechanisms for The Walt Disney Company, ABC, ESPN, Disney Interactive, and Walt Disney Productions using public ledgers and blockchain architectures.

Disney’s recently launched MagicBand wristbands use a radio transmitter to allow employees to know the name of customers within a 40-foot range. Through blockchain technology, all customer data and payment information can be transmitted to the entire system securely and quickly. Disney is the first theme park to use blockchain technology, so it is not surprising that Disney has implemented blockchain-based solutions.

This is not Disney’s first foray into blockchain. In 2014, the first blockchain wedding took place at Disneyland in Florida. David Mondrus and Joyce Bayo registered their marriage on the blockchain, eliminating the need for priests and government officials to participate.
