Enthusiasm for blockchain among large companies and banks continues to grow. However, not all companies interested are financial institutions, and some are combining the technology with other means. Now, Disney is looking for a software intern who can understand distributed ledger protocols.

Disney wants a blockchain intern

The company said the new internship will be a unique opportunity where interns will assist in research and development for the private Disney blockchain team. The job posting reads:

“The Disney Private Blockchain team assists business segment users and developers in researching and developing distributed ledger software mechanisms to protect individual privacy. DTSS Engineering Services applications and services. We provide support, consulting and solutions to meet the strategic needs of our clients’ businesses.”

The internship currently offered by Disney is located in Seattle, Washington, where interns will help with software application development and business division operations of the business department. Software developers or electrical engineers and existing Disney development designers need to focus on security and audit materials. The summer internship will design and implement access control for blockchain architecture.

"Auditing and compliance are related to access control," Disney explained. "Access control is basically tracking who has access to what object. Access can be granted and revoked."

Applicants will be applying for positions that will cover areas of work that include The Walt Disney Company, ABC, ESPN, Disney Interactive, and Walt Disney Productions. This internship is for the Disney Private Blockchain at DTSS (Disney Technology Solutions and Services business unit) and requires both teamwork and independent work.

The prerequisites for this position include network skills, Unix/Linux system knowledge, basic understanding of databases and SQL, and at least a bachelor's degree in computer science. Disney said that the company is a team working with multi-faceted interactive media and they want to hire an extrovert who has fun with these technologies.

The number of blockchain concepts that could be added to Disney's program is almost limitless. The business could start using its own signature currency at the theme park, the protocol could monitor the company's data, or a rewards system could be created. Anything could happen in this emerging market, and the company's move opens up job opportunities for those interested in working at Disney. The internship may not be paid, but working with Disney's blockchain development team could be valuable on one's resume in the future.
