European Parliament's virtual currency public hearing held as scheduled

Today, the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee (ECON) will also participate in the EU Parliament’s public hearing on virtual currencies.

Live coverage of the event can be seen here. The 90-minute session will feature discussions between academics, prominent figures in the European digital currency and blockchain space, and banking industry representatives.

They include:

Institutional representatives: Wiebe Ruttenberg, Director-General for Research, European Central Bank (ECB); Olivier Salles, European Commission.

Representatives from the academic community: Dr. Primavera De Filippi from the French National Center for Scientific Research, University of Paris II (Panthéon-Assas), Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University, COALA.global (Coalition for Automated Legal Applications).

Relevant market representatives: Jeremy Millar of Magister Advisors; Dr. Thaer Sabri, CEO of the Electronic Money Association; Siân Jones, founder of the European Digital Currency and Blockchain Technology Forum (EDCAB).
