Hong Kong-based bitcoin exchange Gatecoin has joined the SuperCharger Fintech Accelerator Program, which is backed by Standard Chartered Bank, TusGlobal Network (TGN) and China’s leading search engine Baidu. The SuperCharger fintech accelerator program has received support from a number of regional and global companies, including Microsoft, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, Ernst & Young and Fidelity Investments. The project was opened for application last fall, and the deadline for application was November 20, 2015. It officially started on January 11 this year and will last for more than three months, ending on April 8, with a startup project exhibition held at the end. "Supercharger" means "a technology that increases the power and efficiency of the engine", so the project was named "Supercharger", which means that start-ups will increase their horsepower and develop rapidly in the world's active Internet financial market. Gatecoin co-founder and CEO Aurelien Menant told CoinDesk that Gatecoin is accepting a $25,000 investment in exchange for a 5 percent stake in the company, which will be helped by a number of advisors to the project. While in the accelerator, the company will build at least a proof-of-concept application in addition to continuing to operate its trading platform, Menant said. He told CoinDesk:
Some Gatecoin staff will move to the SuperCharger fintech accelerator program offices in Hong Kong, while its engineering team will remain at the original company. Original text: http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-baidu-fintech-accelerator/ |
