Digital Asset Holdings, the New York-based blockchain startup run by former JPMorgan Chase executive Blythe Masters, has welcomed two heavyweight executives to its 20-plus-person team. Today, Digital Asset released a statement announcing that it has hired Justin Amos, formerly managing director of NICE Actimize and head of global client connectivity services at JPMorgan, and Edward Newman, formerly vice president of enterprise systems management at Goldman Sachs. It is reported that Amos will helm Digital Asset’s European office, while Newman will serve as a senior software developer at the company. In the statement, Digital Asset CEO Blythe Masters said the company is committed to protecting its customers, while she also highlighted the strategy of opening up the European market. “We are delighted to welcome Justin and Ed to our rapidly growing team, particularly as technology risk management continues to be a top priority for the financial services industry,” said Masters. The comments came amid reports that the startup had some trouble raising a $35 million funding round, and also came as it announced it had joined the Open Ledger Project, an open-source blockchain effort organized by the Linux Foundation. Founded in 2014, Digital Asset provides cryptographic software for asset settlement, targeting markets including syndicated loans, U.S. Treasury repo, foreign exchange, securities settlement and derivatives. A recent report by Aite Group states that digital asset firms plan to expand their applications in 2015 to include digital currencies, payments, public equities and transaction reporting.
