Roger Ver is one of the earliest adopters of Bitcoin, and his continued investment in the cryptocurrency industry has earned him the title of "Bitcoin Jesus". In the past few years, he has invested in many Bitcoin startups, including BitPay, Blockchain, and Purse. Ver is about to attend the "Inside Bitcoins Conference" in Seoul, South Korea. Before that, he accepted an interview with Inside Bitcoins, talked about his views on the current development of Bitcoin and talked about several Bitcoin startup projects that he likes. Hivemind powered by BitcoinWhen asked which specific Bitcoin applications he is most excited about, Roger Ver quickly responded by saying Hivemind, a project that many Bitcoin users may have heard of (perhaps under a different name). HiveMind is a decentralized prediction market based on blockchain technology. It is designed as a sidechain of Bitcoin and its concept is based on the "Truthcoin" concept proposed by Yale statistician Paul Sztorc. Ver described HiveMind as an "incredibly powerful tool for predicting the future using the wisdom of the crowd." Although many people think that prediction markets are nothing more than a gambling tool, it is undeniable that prediction markets can also be used to predict the outcomes of future events. One of HiveMind’s goals is to create a platform that provides the true probability of any particular event occurring in the future. In the past, prediction markets have proven useful in predicting elections and when companies will launch new products or services. In the future, HiveMind may be able to analyze whether politicians are lying (such as President Bush's promise to "not raise new taxes"), and many other new applications. Paul Sztorc has written about non-prediction applications of prediction markets. Roger Ver is very excited about the Hivemind application and has invested in Hivemind himself. Purse and FoldappIn addition to HiveMind, Roger Ver is also very keen on applications that can promote Bitcoin to the mainstream market and allow users in the mainstream market to enter the Bitcoin ecosystem. For example, his favorite projects are Purse and Foldapp:
Such applications that bring new users to blockchain technology have long attracted venture capitalists who focus on bitcoin, and Blockchain Capital CEO Brock Pierce recently discussed such applications at the Bitpanel gathering. Terrence Yang, founder of Yang Ventures, also recently advocated the need to create such applications that meet people's needs. Ver said that more mainstream applications of this type will emerge in the future:
Ver is also an investor in Purse.io. Ver concluded by pointing out that people often feel that it’s too late to enter the Bitcoin ecosystem. He explained:
Ver will give a keynote address at the Seoul conference, titled “Why Bitcoin Adoption Is Only Going Up,” which runs from Dec. 9 to Dec. 11. Original article: http://insidebitcoins.com/news/roger-vers-3-favorite-bitcoin-projects-right-now/35887 |
