Abstract: Bitcoin requires computing resources to mine, while a new digital currency called Bitwalking is generated through human footsteps. Bitwalking tracks and counts footsteps through a mobile app, and rewards you 1 BW$ for every 10,000 steps . Users can choose to spend your BW$ in an online store or exchange it for cash. The project has received more than $ 10 million in investment from multiple Japanese investors . The idea of Bitwalking is to use the popularity of fitness tracking devices to provide users with an additional incentive to maintain fitness. This idea is not new. Several companies have proposed similar schemes, but failed because they could not detect cheating. Bitwalking did not disclose the algorithm used to calculate the steps, but said it used a combination of GPS and WIFI . Regarding privacy concerns, the company's founder said that it would not provide advertisers with personal sports information. |
