On November 12, according to Coindesk, the Nobel Prize in Economics (real name: The Swedish Bank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel) will discuss the nomination of the Economics Prize for Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto. Earlier, Bhagwan Chowdhry, a finance professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, indicated in an op-ed written by Huffington Post that he intended to nominate Nakamoto. In the widely circulated article, Chowdhry wrote that Nakamoto deserved the award given that the invention of Bitcoin was "nothing short of a revolution." After the article was published, some observers questioned that Chowdhry's public disclosure of support for Satoshi Nakamoto violated the Nobel Prize nomination rules. Regarding this matter, Göran K. Hansson, Secretary General of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, recently pointed out that potential violations will be discussed. Hansen told CoinDesk:
Nobel communications manager Maria von Konow previously told CoinDesk the following rules apply to the nomination process:
Hansen did not provide further explanation of what would be discussed next and did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Original article: http://www.coindesk.com/nobel-committee-discuss-satoshi-nakamoto-nomination/ |
