UK Chancellor of the Exchequer: Digital currencies will play an important role in financial markets

Bitcoin House News , November 12 , CoinDesk reported that British Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne reiterated at the Bank of England's public forum discussion yesterday that London will become a global leader in digital currency and FinTech .

According to Bloomberg, Osborne spoke about the potential of alternative currencies that had been abandoned , saying:

“[ Digital currencies ] can now become an important part of our future financial markets.

In his opening remarks, the young and promising chancellor also touched on the topic of innovation, noting that the UK would ensure that regulation did not create too many obstacles to innovation.

Last August , Osborne announced a new plan to assess the potential of cryptocurrencies in the UK economy, through which the Treasury will weigh the technical advantages and risks of cryptocurrencies.

Last year, Osborne also made headlines when he bought $ 20 worth of bitcoin from a bitcoin ATM at FinTech accelerator Level 39, a London cafe. This is the blockchain research office set up by Swiss Investment Bank ( USB ) in London. (Compiled by Bitcoin Home / Liu You)
