Bitcoin wallet Airbitz has received $450,000 in funding from Block26, a new venture capital firm based in Los Angeles. This is the first investment project of the venture capital firm since its establishment. Block26, which launched in June, said it intends to focus specifically on companies working in the blockchain and digital currency sectors. Block26 head Ni'coel Stark called the investment a big deal for the company and said Airbitz is representative of the companies the company will continue to seek investment in in the future. “We look for companies that have something unique to offer in Bitcoin technology. Airbitz is a great wallet that solves a consumer problem, but it’s much more than that. We see a lot more potential in Airbitz. The potential for security, the impact on the Internet of Things, all in all, these potentials make Airbitz very attractive.” She went on to say that the Airbitz team’s contribution goes beyond simply creating a competitive high-quality mobile Bitcoin wallet. Looking ahead, Stark said Block26 intends to innovate as the field of bitcoin technology develops and plans to focus on investing in high-quality startups. |
