Recently, GoodGame, the largest mobile game developer in Germany, announced that it has reached a cooperation with Bitcoin payment service company BitPay, and all in-app purchases of its games will support Bitcoin payments. GoodGame is also one of the very few game companies that currently supports Bitcoin.
Bitcoin Bitcoin is a P2P digital currency. It is not issued by a specific institution (such as the central bank that issues RMB, or a game company that sells virtual currency), but is "calculated" by a series of complex algorithms through P2P software. It is a magical "currency" that cannot cause inflation. In theory, people can use Bitcoin to buy some virtual items, such as props in games, etc. As long as someone accepts it, they can also use Bitcoin to buy items in real life. Last September, the US e-commerce giant eBay announced that its payment processing subsidiary Braintree would accept Bitcoin payments. However, due to the insecurity of Bitcoin and its frequent association with money laundering and criminal activities, many countries and regions have officially banned Bitcoin. However, as early as June 2013, the German Parliament decided to exempt Bitcoin from tax for holding for more than one year, and Bitcoin was recognized as a "unit of account" by the German Ministry of Finance, that is, it was regarded as a "legal currency". Germany is the first country in the world to recognize the legal status of Bitcoin. Therefore, it is not surprising that GoodGame from Germany supports Bitcoin.
GoodGame is currently the largest mobile game developer in Germany. According to its financial report, its revenue in fiscal year 2014 totaled 202 million euros (about 1.36 billion yuan), an increase of about 97% compared with last year, ranking first among German mobile game manufacturers. The company's most well-known game is Empire: Four Kingdoms, which ranked first on the best-selling list in 22 countries and entered the top 10 of the best-selling list in 91 countries. |
