US banking giant JPMorgan Chase to hire more blockchain talent

Major U.S. investment bank JPMorgan Chase is stepping up its blockchain recruiting efforts by publishing a series of new blockchain-related job applications.

JPMorgan Chase has opened several positions for its global blockchain development efforts, including recruitment for blockchain software developers, engineers, marketers and auditors. According to the company's LinkedIn job openings, many of the new blockchain-related positions were posted in the past few days.

JPMorgan Chase is hiring blockchain talent across multiple offices in the U.S., Singapore, India, Hong Kong, the U.K. and other countries. In the past seven days, the company has posted more than 30 such job openings in the U.S. alone.

Many of the applications specifically seek talent for JPMorgan’s digital currency-focused Onyx unit, which launched last October and is focused on JPMorgan’s in-house stablecoin, JPM Coin, as well as the firm’s proprietary blockchain-based interbank data network, Liink.

One of the newly opened positions is for a Blockchain Platform Software Engineer in Jersey City, New Jersey. Jersey City seeks experts specializing in blockchain security technology, proof-of-stake algorithms, and experience in major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The announcement comes shortly after JPMorgan analysts predicted that Ethereum’s upcoming transition from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake will drive global adoption of cryptocurrency staking returns, potentially triggering a surge in staking returns of up to $40 billion by 2025. The bank’s analysts also believe that Bitcoin has the potential to evolve into a compelling gold alternative, with the price of Bitcoin likely to exceed $140,000 in the long term.
