IT Home learned that a merchant in a computer mall in Shanghai told CCTV that it is not a good idea to buy graphics cards now because the current price is too high. He also told reporters that all RTX3070s are out of stock.

CCTV continued to visit "mining" users, such as a B station up master, who said that he had more than 300 mainframes at home that only lacked graphics cards. Each of them can directly plug in eight graphics cards. These machines have been booked by miners in Yunnan and Sichuan and will be their main models for mining Ethereum.

The up master said that currently, Bitcoin needs to be mined with professional mining machines. The mining machines assembled with graphics cards are mainly used to mine Ethereum. The price of Ethereum has increased by more than 400% in the past six months, which has led to the creation of a large number of new mining farms. Currently, these miners have put up the slogan of "they will buy as many graphics cards as there are on the market". These mining farms require thousands to tens of thousands of graphics cards, and the investment scale has reached hundreds of millions of yuan.

CCTV pointed out that from last year to now, insufficient production capacity of graphics card manufacturers is also an important reason for the shortage and price increase of graphics cards. At present, virtual currencies such as Bitcoin cannot be circulated in my country, and "virtual currency" trading services cannot be provided within or outside the country, including the establishment of RMB channels and capital pools within the country, and the collection of transaction fees.
