Riot Blockchain, a Nasdaq-listed crypto mining company, announced the purchase of another 1,000 Bitmain S17-Pro Antminers on December 12. It is reported that the Antminer S17-Pro is 50% more efficient than the Antminer S9 currently used by Riot. The company expects that the increased computing power of the new miner will be 440% of the Antminer S9, while consuming only 220% of the power. Riot said that it mined a total of 1,820 BTC in the third quarter of 2019, with a gross profit margin of 14% (excluding depreciation and amortization), and hopes to increase profits when deploying new products in the first quarter of 2020. It was previously reported that the company had purchased 3,000 Antminer S17-Pro on December 4.
