Trend Micro Incorporated, a global cybersecurity solutions provider, said in a new study that cybercriminals are shifting their focus from fast ransomware attacks to slower, more covert theft of computer computing resources to mine cryptocurrencies. The research results show that compared with the whole of 2017, the number of cryptocurrency mining detected in the first half of 2018 increased by 96%, and the number of mining viruses detected increased by 956% compared with the first half of 2017.
