A "crazy family" in the Netherlands sold all their belongings to invest in Bitcoin

Dutch man Didi Taihuttu and his family

Sina US Stocks News, Beijing time on the 19th, according to foreign media reports, a 39-year-old Dutch man Didi Taihuttu sold his company, house, car and even his children's toys, and invested all the proceeds in Bitcoin , hoping to become rich overnight one day.

In an interview last month, he said that he expected the price of Bitcoin to rise to a maximum of 20,000 euros in the future. He is looking forward to the day when he can just be a "rentier" without having to work. If he fails, "I'll start all over again."

Didi Taihuttu, a 39-year-old father of three from the Netherlands, sold his company, house, car, bicycle and other valuable possessions to buy Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

“My wife was skeptical at first and wondered if it was the right decision for our children, as were my siblings,” Taihuttu said. “But they are now supportive of the plan and luckily we are an adventurous family and we followed our feelings. We just hope that this feels right to be part of the money revolution.”

When he sold the house, the price of Bitcoin was about $3,700. Since then, although Bitcoin has plummeted in the face of regulatory pressure, it has resumed its upward trend, breaking through $5,800 last week and is currently around $5,600.

Taihuttu started mining Bitcoin in 2010 after a friend told him about the virtual currency. After his father passed away in 2016, he decided to sell his company and started traveling with his wife and children. When he returned to the Netherlands nine months later, he decided to sell his house and possessions and invest in cryptocurrencies.

Taihuttu said his family will continue the experiment until 2020, planning to sell more of their possessions and use the funds raised to invest in Bitcoin. The family's remaining possessions include a television, laptop, clothes, drums and some household items.

“Our expectation is that the price of Bitcoin will rise to 12,000 to 20,000 euros within the next three years,” he said. “If this is true, then we can live like this for a long time without the pressure of working. If Bitcoin continues to rise, our goal will be to help people in poor countries. If we have nothing left, I guess we will have to start all over again.”
