Roger Ver: BU is not anti-Bitcoin, it is Core that has deviated from the original development vision of Bitcoin

Roger Ver, owner of Bitcoin.com and a major supporter of BU, denied that BU is anti-Bitcoin. To explain his point of view, he also urged everyone to read the original Bitcoin white paper.

Ver said:

“Go read the Bitcoin whitepaper and compare BU’s scaling roadmap to that of Blockstream and Core. Blockstream and Core have clearly strayed from the original vision of Bitcoin as a peer-to-peer electronic cash system.”

The early Bitcoin adopter also said that the allegations that BU is closed source and is releasing binary versions and hiding the BU client running is a lie.

Bitcoin startup owner Akin Fernandez made these allegations against BU last Friday.

Ver hit back:

“These are all rumors spread by Core supporters.”

“All BU code is open source and will always remain open source.”

Ver once again refuted the argument that Bitcoin exchanges will not list BU and that miners and businesses will not do anything with BU:

“This is simply not true. Enterprises will continue to list Bitcoin. If the BU roadmap starts to be implemented, then enterprises will be more willing to recognize BU as Bitcoin.”

BU Technical Quality Control Issues

Ver said there is nonsense in the assertion that the BU development team has taken on a very difficult task that only a small number of people can handle properly and that BU has encountered many quality control issues.

He believes that there are many smart people in the world who can learn and study Bitcoin.

Finally, he assured that BU’s recent quality control issues will be addressed in a timely manner as the number of BU participants and users continues to increase.

Why is BU better than SegWit?

The dispute between BU and SegWit has deeply torn the Bitcoin community into two camps. When Cointelegraph asked how BU is better than SegWit, Ver explained:

“BU will fix the problems that Bitcoin is facing right now, which is causing people to start leaving Bitcoin and moving to other coins. SegWit solves some of the less urgent problems, and does it in an irreversible and very complex way.”

However, Ver believes that time will tell whether BU will win the scaling battle, which has been too damaging to the Bitcoin ecosystem. On the positive side, the battle may be over by the end of the second quarter of 2017.
